Final contract for Seef Lusail South Project awarded

The Lusail Real Estate Development Company (LREDC) has awarded the final phase of the CP07A-1A Waterfront Commercial / Seef Lusail South Infrastructure works contract to a consortium comprising the Hamad bin Khalid Contracting Co. and the Qatar Building Company (HBK-QBC).

LREDC, Qatar’s largest Greenfield developer and a subsidiary of the Qatari Diar Real Estate Company, awarded the contract to HBK-QBC amid other tender bids put forth by various Qatari contractors.

Stressing the importance of working with local contractors for the successful development of Lusail City, LREDC’s CEO Eng. Essa Mohammed Ali Kaldari, said: “Lusail is eager to cooperate with local contractors, who in many ways comprise the backbone of Qatar’s local economy, and we are therefore proud of our association with some of the strongest local businesses.”

“At the LREDC we will continue to seek out collaborations with local engineering and contracting firms through our many forums and seminars, while ensuring that companies who wish to bid for future tenders are provided sufficient time for planning and coordination.”

Commenting on the recently awarded contract, H.E Sheikh Ali Bin Hamad Bin Khalid Al Thani, President of HBK Contracting Co said: “HBK is honored to take part in the innovative Lusail project. Being entrusted to help build one of the biggest and most state-of-the-art cities in Qatar, we are committed to delivering outstanding infrastructure that the nation will be proud of.”

Mr. Ali Mustafawi, Managing Director for QBC confirmed that The HBK-QBC JV has already begun preliminary works on the aforementioned project, which is planned for completion in early 2016.

The scope of work for the recently awarded infrastructural development contract includes the construction of highway roads for the South of Seef Lusail Waterfront Commercial including paving of footpaths, the installation of street lights, signs, traffic signals and equipment for speed radars.

In addition to the development of sewage networks, storm water as well as potable water and irrigation systems, the works will also include the development and connection of power grids and telecommunications networks, as well as connections to central water, gas, district cooling, and waste management networks.

The contract will also see HBK-QBC construct adjoining intersections to the Lusail ring road, as well as railway lines and bridges linking the waterfront with the Qatar Entertainment City.

In a significant step towards realising Lusail City, a visionary Qatari development, the Lusail Real Estate Development Company (LREDC) has awarded the final phase of the CP07A-1A Waterfront Commercial/Seef Lusail South Infrastructure works contract to a consortium comprising Hamad Bin Khalid Contracting and Qatar Building Company (HBK-QBC).

QNB signs an agreement with exclusive agent for Hyundai Qatar Building Company

Qatar National Bank (QNB), the World’s strongest bank, has signed an agreement with a leading local company QBC. The agreement comes as part of QNB’s ongoing commitment to offer its business clients a variety of products and services that are considered to be essential components of any successful enterprise and entrepreneur.

Qatar Building Company wins CSR Initiative award

Qatar Building Company saw off tough competition last night to win the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Initiative of the Year at the Construction Week Qatar Awards 2013.

The company was praised as ‘standing out in understanding the broad range of CSR through well planned local community initiatives and improvement schemes for labour and staff.’

Summing up this company’s approach, one judge said this company operates a ‘working and demonstrable CSR policy’.

Nigel Cope, CEO of Coins Group, which sponsored the category, was on stage to present the award to Riad Abu Qaoud, Qatar Building Company’s general manager.

“It’s a fantastic feeling to win and great thanks to Construction Week Qatar,” said Qaoud.

(Doha, December 2012) Qatar Building Company (QBC) teamed up with the National Campaign for Ideal Behavior on Thursday to celebrate Qatar National Day by planting a garden of trees and flowers at the Police Training Headquarters in Dukhail.

The event is in line with QBC’s commitment to the Environment in their Corporate Social Responsibility program, “QBC Cares”.

This was the first time that the National Campaign for Ideal Behavior has worked with a private company in the recently launched The Million Trees Campaign, in the spirit of the recent United Nations Climate Change Conference (Cop18CMP8) held this year in Doha.

Over 40 trees were planted, including the Qatar’s symbolic Sidr Tree, alongside rows of flowers. The garden will be conserved by personnel from the police force, QBC and NCIB.
