Qatar Building Company (QBC) partakes in Earth Hour 2012

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) campaign, Qatar Building Company (QBC) took part in Earth Hour 2012 by turning off their lights on several business premises. All staff was encouraged to support the WWF global initiative.

(Doha, Qatar) 29 March 2012. In its endeavors towards environmental stewardship—as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) campaign—Qatar Building Company (QBC) officially took part in Earth Hour 2012, the world’s largest public environmental action. In addition to encouraging all staff to participate for one full hour on Saturday, March 31, at 8:30pm, QBC coordinated several of its business premises to go “lights out”.

Qatar Building Company (QBC) supports Construction Materials Production Sector as a Gold Sponsor for INTERCEM Doha 2012

Qatar Building Company (QBC) was an official Gold Sponsor of INTERCEM Doha 2012, held in Sheraton Doha Hotel. QBC highlighted its production capabilities in Kerbstone Products, Precast Concrete, Readymix Concrete and Asphalt.

The event, held in Sheraton Doha Resort & Hotel, attracted international companies as well as guests and speakers from around the world; it was dedicated to the trading, transportation, and handling of cement and cement-related products.

The first day of the conference focused on Qatar—from the country’s economy to its future mega-projects. As such, QBC hosted the extravagant lunch hour and provided presentations on its production capabilities in precast concrete products (i.e. kerbstones), asphalt, and readymix concrete.

QGBC launches sustainability education drive with local schools

Series of visits planned as part of Going Green Outreach Program.

(Doha, Qatar) 8 March 2012– As part of its commitment to instilling and cultivating values of sustainability among the builders and architects of tomorrow, the Education Committee of Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC) partnered with Qatar Building Company (QBC) to launched a series of ‘Green Assemblies’ at local schools. A team of engineers and volunteers visited the Compass International School and Zeinab Preparatory Independent School for Girls as part of the Going Green Outreach Program.

The workshops allow

students to interact with civil engineers and sustainability volunteers. After an introduction to concepts like sustainability and renewable resources, the students are encouraged to share their ideas on ways to improve efficiency in the use of four major environmental concerns: energy, water, land, and waste.
