Qatar Building Company (QBC) Receives Three Nominations for Construction Week’s Qatar Awards 2011

(Doha, Qatar) 26 September 2011 – Qatar Building Company (QBC) was nominated for three (3) awards in the first-ever Construction Week Awards – Qatar. The awards ceremony, held at the Four Seasons Hotel on Monday, September 26 at 7:30pm, seeks to recognize and reward excellence in the construction industry. Of the seventeen (17) categories available, QBC received one (1) nomination for its Infrastructure Project of the Year, and two (2) individual nominations for Project Manager of the Year.

(Al Wakra Stadium, Qatar) 23 August 2011 – Qatar Building Company (QBC) invited the public to the final match and awards ceremony of the 2011 annual QBC Football Tournament, scheduled for Thursday, August 25, 2011, at Al Wakrah Stadium. This year had the highest player enrollment in QBC Football Tournament history. A total of twelve (12) teams battled over a series of eight (8) days—totaling over 20 games—for a chance to win the celebrated QBC Football Tournament Cup. All 107 players were given full football uniforms as souvenirs for their participation.

Construction Weekly magazine names Qatar Building Company (QBC) as one of the Top 10 Contractors in Qatar’s “Top of the Class” of 2011. Named in Qatar’s 2011 Top Ten Contractors – one of only three Qatari Companies. List was published in this month’s issue of Construction Weekly. Three purely Qatari companies made the list, with QBC being one of them.

QBC Achieves 2,500,000 Man Hours without Loss Time Incidents (LTI) at North Sewerage Treatment Pumping Station & Pipeline

(Doha North TSE3, Qatar) 28 June 2011 – Qatar Building Company (QBC) receives official certificate for achieving over 2.5 million Man Hours without Loss Time Incidents (LTI) for Doha North Sewerage Treatment & Associated Works TSE3 Pumping Station and Mains.

The Doha North Sewerage Treatment and Associated Works contract is a joint venture with Public Works Authority (ASHGHAL) and several organizations; it is valued at 1.78 billion QR and has a capacity of 243,000m3/day of treated water. The project encompasses Doha’s northern area, Umm Salal, Gharafa, Semeisma, and Lusail. Upon completion, it is set to serve over 900,000 people.

QBC was awarded the building of the sewage pumping station, connecting pipelines, and mains by the main contractor Marubeni Corporation. With a team of over 130 members working since 2009, it is quite an achievement in Health & Safety for QBC to maintain zero LTI.
